FAQs

Welcome!

This is Amani. Unexpected. Unique. Upstanding. From the moment you step in our door, it is our desire that you feel relaxed, peaceful, and pleasantly surprised. You don’t have to travel to a big city or pay high dollar for a wonderful massage experience. From first timers, to massage veterans, Amani Massage is sure to surpass your expectations.

What does "Amani" mean?

‘Amani’ is Swahili for ‘Peace’. We live in a world that battles peace. If you aren’t being proactive against this, stress, disease, and anxiety can quickly take over. At Amani, we hope to be a channel that promotes peace for each client. Peace for the body, peace for the mind, and peace for the spirit.

Why "by appointment only"?

Our therapists work part time. Therapists are ready to work when clients are on the schedule, and go home when they are done. This is the sweet spot for both us as therapists and you as the client. It assures that your therapist won’t be worn out by the time they work on you. This also means we MIGHT not be at the studio if there is no one on the schedule. Please arrive 10 mins before your appointment time to complete a small amount of intake forms to better help you have a safe and enjoyable massage.

What should I wear?

For most massages, you will be asked to undress to your comfort level. For some people this means removing all clothes and for others it means leaving underwear on. Regardless, you will be modestly covered at all times with proper draping. For Reflexology, only the socks/shoes have to be removed. For sports massage “THE STRETCH”, you will need to wear athletic shorts (and sports bra for females).

How can I pay?

We accept cash and all debit/credit cards. Payment for services is expected after the session is complete. Sessions that run short due to client tardiness still warrant full payment. Clients that “no show” or cancel 2 times in a row are expected to pay for their appointment upfront in addition to the no show/late cancel fee.

Should I tip?

We do not require or automatically include a tip in your charge for services. Tips are appreciated by the therapists but never expected and do not play a role in the quality of service the client receives.

Can I make inappropriate comments or requests?

No.

Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else if you cannot help but make sexual remarks or advances. We are a professional massage establishment and professional massage is not sexual in nature. Should you decide to suggest, request, or expose yourself to a therapist, after we take full payment for your service, the police will be called and a report filed.

Why am I told to drink water after the massage?

Our therapists will offer you a glass of Berkey filtered water after your massage. Please accept this offer. Drinking water after massage is always recommended. The water will help the kidneys and other organs process the various substances that were broken up during the massage treatment. Toxins will be floating around and unless you flush them out by drinking water, you could feel extremely sick the next day.

What is the cancellation policy?

CANCELLATIONS: Please give us 24 hours notice (preferably by phone or text) if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Many of our therapists drive 45 mins for work- if you cancel or no show at the last minute, we cannot fill that spot.

The therapists’ time has been wasted- as well as made them miss out on income they were counting on.

There is a $30 fee for services 60 minutes in length or less and a $50 fee for services over 60 minutes for any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice that are non emergency in nature.

TARDINESS: We do our best to ensure that if you booked a 60 min massage, that you get a full 60 mins on the table. However, if you are late arriving, slow to fill out paperwork, slow to get on the table, etc- we might have to adjust the working time so that the client following will have their full amount of time. You will be expected to pay for the full time. To avoid this problem, please arrive 10 mins early.
